The largest steam pumping station in the world is just around the corner from Watersport campsite Heeg. The Woudagemaal in Lemmer is a unique site of the power of steam and water and is listed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Since the monumental Woudagemaal has an important practical function in the Frisian water resources it is not a museum but fully operational. You can however join one of the guided tours. More information can be found in their visitors centre.
